Quick Lookup Tools

The following informational ‘calculators’ allow consumers to summarize SCIMS data for selected variables using specified criteria.

Leading Causes of SCI

The National Spinal Cord Injury Statistical Center created this free tool to provide cause of spinal cord injury by date range (usually in 5-year time frame), Race/Ethnicity, and Sex. For example, this tool can calculate the leading cause of SCI for data entered into the National SCI Database from 2000 to 2004, for Hispanic males.

Life Expectancy Calculator

The National Spinal Cord Injury Statistical Center has created this free tool to provide an estimate for the life expectancy of a person with spinal cord injury who has already survived at least one year and who has not regained all normal feeling and movement (a person with normal function is considered to have the same life expectancy as the general population).
